OverDrive: eBooks & audiobooks App Reviews

Due to an issue updating my iPad, I had to restore it. Now I am unable to access my books. It doesnt matter if I sign in with my library card, Facebook, or overdrive account it tells me the same thing. This book is already cheeked out, be sure to login with the same login to access this book. Im laying in bed wide awake in the middle of the night unable to read & fall back asleep because I cannot access my book!

What was wrong with the previous layout? Now I have to swipe (HATE swiping as if finding a book is like a dating app) through the books instead of seeing a thumbnail view, only have 3 categories presented (instead of more as before) and my account that I have had for over a year (and currently have 4 books on loan) is not recognized. Gone are the easily recognized icons denoting ones account page located at the top of the page (thus giving easy access to ones account). PLEASE bring back the previous layout!!! If something already works then do not change it with downgrades and call it "new and improved". Might end up deleting this app and go to a different online library system/app. Im only giving this app one star as borrowing the books are free but with the sparse display, boring layout and inaccessibility of account, I have to give it what it currently offers--the bare minimum.

After updating to iOS 10.1.1 the fonts are tiny and cannot be adjusted.

Does what its supposed to do. I love not having to remember to return a book or face a late fine.

Love this app. Use it all the time. I love that I can get ebooks through my library card. However there are a few issues: 1. Cannot have the books both on my phone and ipad. Can only have the book in one device. Wish that wasnt the case. 2. Only have 14 days to read the books. Kind of a short time. 3. When the book is close to expiring I wish it would let you extend it. At least once. It does not. You have to go back on hold again.

Love being able to read and listen to books from my local library right from my phone. The app does take a little navigating, but once you get it, it great!! Recommended to anyone who loves to read! UPDATE: newer versions is much easier to use!!

Since the iOS 10 upgrade this app has taken confusing to a whole new level. Trying to just sign in became an exercise in futility. Once signed in it informs me that the account is not verified. The user is required to have an email sent, where the "verify" button brings you back to the sign in page again requiring the card number and password all over again bringing up the need to verify - starting the whole cycle again. Once I checked out a book it told me to go someplace I couldnt find. Extreme frustration. This app is even more convoluted and irritating than the old one. A step backward from poor is not progress.

This app is a pain in the rear to use. Now with the stupid update I cannot even open an Ebonics in my Kindle app. I cannot "read now" and I cannot read as an ePub. What a lousy app. So far it is only good for the audiobooks.

I absolutely love this app for audiobooks. You can download them for free from your local library and then after the initial download it does not use any data to listen to the book!

The audiobooks are perfect for my long drives to and from work. An educational book to get me in gear on the way to work and a novel to help me wind down on my way home.

Overdrive worked well for me until today. Apparently I now have the updated app on my iPhone and when I attempt to put a book (that was previously checked out, but not expired) onto my bookshelf, I get an error message telling me I need to sign in using the same Overdrive account I used previously. Same message regardless of signing in with my library card or my Overdrive account. Not happy.

I like large info box on holds and loads. However, several bugs. When looking at new books cannot select filter showing all even not available. Also, on holds shows total # of people on hold as in front of you even if you are next. Also, display of total number of loans and holds is missing. Need to bring back old version until this one works

I love this app. It is my most used app. Free audiobooks and books. I use it for the FREE audiobooks. Best sellers available. I constantly have books in cue to read.

I have read countless books using this app. I loved right up today when I finished my book and went to my wish list for my next book. First, the app did not recognize my password and directed it to my local library. They were a big help but noted they dont care for the new update either. Secondly, and most important, the interface just stinks. Its awkward and much less user friendly. I used to tell my reader friends about Overdrive and how easy, convenient and free the service is. No more good reviews from me. Perhaps Kindle really is the app to go to.

It an awesome app for audiobooks. The access to the material is amazing! I cant comment on reading digital books with the app.

Im on vacation and decided to pick up another book by an author of a recently finished book. Low and behold, new update. Last time they erased all of the purchased books and pdfs I had stored on the site. This time they wanted us to reregister, asking us to put in our library card account number with password which is at home because Im on vacation! Thanks again for your lousy service.

I love this app! My job has me all over the place so I rarely have time for the library. With this app, I can get ebooks and audiobooks without having to worry about getting them back to the library.

I am using this app every day. Connected to the library feeds my love to read.

I only really use the app to listen to audiobooks & it works great for that. Easy to navigate.
