OverDrive: eBooks & audiobooks App Reviews

This is a great app. I dont read but I listen to audiobooks. I have listen to close to 100 books in a year. Reading them I would have never done. Im just being real. I start to fall a sleep after reading a few pages. I recommend this app to everyone. My only problem with this app is I wish them would have all the books to the series I read. Sometimes they are missing 2 books from a 7 book series. Other then that its great. I feel more cultured now. Lol

Simple, straightforward and works perfectly

If you already have this app Do Not Upgrade it without taking precautions. The upgrade will wipe out all of your history and all of the books you have currently downloaded from the library. You can not reload the books you have currently checked out because your account has changed. You can not return the books so that you can recheck them out. You have to wait weeks for the books to expire and then recheck them out. Hopefully they will be available. If you waited for a popular book on hold for months, too bad, you are now at the bottom of the list again. I hope the new version is worth it because I have no intention of ever upgrading it again.

I have really enjoyed the increased access to ebooks and audio books Overdrive has provided. My local library offers a good selection, and the ability to use the Overdrive app, Kindle, the web, etc., to access my content has been pretty great. I have had problems with the UI - I hate how non-obvious it is to return a book once youre done with it (I think fixing this would make books available much more quickly...) but overall, its been a great app. Bugs have been fixed in recent releases, and it seems to be getting better.

If youve ever purchased a book or audio book, youll probably love this opportunity to check out books for free! Its so much more convenient than some of the free digi books websites and, depending on your library, a much better selection. The user interface is non-intuitive to the point of almost being unusable. But lured by the pull of free books (!) I persevered and now Im accustomed to it.

Worked great for quite a while. Now it seams to constantly shut down on the iPad and seems to think I have multiple accounts when I only have one. They need a fix.

So handy as a way to check out audio and ebooks from your library without even walking across town. Anytime I have a technical problem between Overdrive and my iPad, a very helpful technician at my local library gives great advice. I use it to borrow books from two libraries that are thousands of miles apart. I use the dark page with white letters setting because it does not tire my eyes...and I can read in bed w/o bothering my partner. There may be other ebook readers out there, but this one is just fine for me. Havent used audiobooks on my iPad so have no feedback. Thank you!

Great way to stay awake while on the road. I like that you can speed up the narration on audio books.

I listen to audiobooks ALL the time on this app!!! The selection could be better, but thats more up to the library. Uber easy to use!

Recently, its been crashing every time I press play on an audiobook. Must be an issue with the new iOS- looking forward to a bug fix soon. Ive deleted and reinstalled twice, and it works fine for about 24 hours. I love the concept of this app- Im an audiobook junkie and I love having free access to audiobooks through my public library. Looking forward to improvements!

Love being able to check out digital and audio books.

There are some technical issues, but I think that it is more to do with the my librarys website. I use this app all the time! I love audiobooks and getting other ebooks fast!

Really enjoying using this app for audio books. The app keeps improving. Fairly easy to use. For audio books I make a point to bookmark my place. Havent used it for e-books yet.

I have had this app for a few years and I love all the ebooks and magazines I can borrow. I find the whole process a breeze. I highly recommend it.

The app wont even open anymore, but even when it did, signing in was ridiculously difficult. Then I couldnt find my library. Then I could. Its also absurd to troubleshoot, like why would I want to deal with going to the library? It literally defeats the purpose of the app! And you can check books out on your librarys website, but then have to use the Overdrive app to return. So annoying!

Can you make the Wish List / all Lists sortable by author, title, etc.? Otherwise I have to say I love this app. Being able to check books out of the library without leaving the house and no late fees!!! awesome! Sent from my ipad

This is the perfect app for anyone who loves the ease of being able to check out books on the go or even start reading them right away. There is so much variety and choices and it downloads straight to my smart phone or iPad.

But I had to get the NYPL to help me set it up. You need your Adobe login and password, which I had forgotten I had. So excellent to have instant access to all the e-books and audiobooks at NYPL.

I use this app to listen to audiobooks while I am at work and it has saved me from a life of utter boredom... or at least 8 hours of boredom anyway. Get a library card and then get this app!
